RACE REPORT – Westport Triathlon – Naoise O Donnell

Westport Triathlon was a brilliant race and a great day out. The swim took place in the bay, with Croagh Patrick in the background, making for an incredible and scenic start to the race.

The bike was definitely one of the highlights. The route from Westport towards Louisburgh took you along the coast, with amazing views throughout. It was one of those courses where the scenery made you forget about the effort for a while!

The run was definitely the toughest part of the day. The course took you up a hill and back down again, twice, which made for a challenging finish after the swim and bike. It was tough on the legs, but a great feeling to push through and make it to the finish.

It was also fantastic to see such a great turnout from Galway Triathlon Club. Having so many club members racing made for a brilliant atmosphere and plenty of support throughout the day.

Overall, Westport Triathlon was a fantastic experience, with a beautiful course, spectacular views and a challenging run. I’d definitely recommend it to anyone thinking about taking part next year, just make sure you’re ready for those hills!
